Ho-Sheng Lin, MD, FACS is a Professor and Chair at the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. After his residency, Dr. Lin completed a fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Stanford University. Joseph Scharpf, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and a Member of the Cleveland Clinic’s Head and Neck Institute in the Head and Neck Surgery section. Dr. Scharpf serves as the Vice Chair for Professional Development and Continuing Education for HNI He is board-certified in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. His specialty interests include thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head and neck cancer, benign head and neck tumors including salivary tumors and paragangliomas, and skull base surgery. Dr. Byrne practiced at The Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2001-2020. There, he served as Director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. A holder of U.S. patents, Dr. Byrne has worked in conjunction with basic science researchers to develop a novel regenerative biomaterial, funded by the Department of Defense, which recently completed a Phase II FDA trial. Dr. Byrne also developed a surgical device that assists surgeons working with cartilage, shortening operating room (OR) time and safeguarding this tissue by preventing its entry into the cutting apparatus. He also invented an FDA Class 1 medical device to aid in nasal breathing that recently completed a first-of-its-kind human clinical trial followed by a successful Series A round of funding.
Dr. Byrne earned his M.D. from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at the University of California in San Francisco and a residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California San Diego. I’m Dr. Hussain Alsaffar, an Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon specializing in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction. Born in Saudi Arabia, I embarked on an incredible journey pursuing medical expertise.
After graduating from King Faisal University Medical School, I travelled to London, Ontario, for my Residency in Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery from 2007 to 2012. Following that, I completed a two-year fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction Surgery at the University of Toronto, concluding in June 2014.
Since then, I have been an Ottawa Head and Neck Oncology team member. Between 2018-2023, I have held the positions of Program Director for the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency program at the University of Ottawa, and the Fellowship Director for Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction, and I chair the weekly tumour board on Head and Neck Mucosal Oncology.

Brent A. Senior, MD, FACS, FARS is Harold C. Pillsbury, III Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology and Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he also serves as Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and Outreach as well as Chief of Rhinology, Allergy, and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. Dr. Senior has lectured in nearly 450 national and international otolaryngology courses and authored 180 articles and chapters. He serves as Vice President of Development and Strategy of the American Rhinologic Society; Secretary General of the International Rhinologic Society; Past President of the American Rhinologic Society; President of the Christian Society of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Anastasios Hantzakos, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Surgical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, as well as the Director of the Voice Clinic.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hantzakos was a Consultant at the Hellenic National Health System, followed by a fellowship in Phonosurgery and Laryngeal Laser Surgery. He also served as Consultant and Director of the Voice Clinic at NUKA and as a Clinical Associate Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, US.
Dr. Hantzakos received his medical degree from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NUKA) in 1991. He completed his basic surgical training at Emory University, Atlanta, US and received his specialist certification in Otorhinolaryngology from NUKA at Hippocration General Hospital of Athens. Subsequently, he received additional training as a Senior Registrar in the UK, with special interest in Rhinology and Otology. He went on to receive a PhD from the NUKA in 2003, as well as a master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) from the Hellenic Open University in 2015.
Dr. Hantzakos has been featured in numerous papers in international journals and textbooks. He is an active member of member of various study groups within the European Laryngological Society (ELS) and an examiner and fellow of the European Board Examinations in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery since 2010. He is also a member of the International Association of Phenosurgeons, the Voice Foundation and European Society for Swallowing Disorders.
Dr. Hantzakos enjoys spending his free time with his family. He is an avid long distance runner and triathlete and enjoys playing the guitar and drums.
Professor and Chair Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Wayne State University School of Medicine
Ho-Sheng Lin, MD, FACS is a Professor and Chair at the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He received his MD from Yale University and completed his residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and New York University Medical Center. After his residency, Dr. Lin completed a fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Stanford University. Dr. Lin’s clinical interests include surgical treatment of cancer and disease involving the mouth, throat, neck, thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands as well as surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Dr. Shuayb Elkhalifa, MBBS, MRCP, FRCPath, is an Allergy and Immunology Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Elkhalifa was a consultant of Allergy and Immunology at Salford Care Organization, Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust, UK and Honorary Lecturer at The University of Manchester, UK
Dr. Elkhalifa received his medical degree from University of Khartoum, Sudan, and completed his Internal Medicine, Allergy and Immunology training at Greater Manchester Hospitals, UK.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Elkhalifa has specialized in clinical assessment, investigation, treatment, and holistic management of patients with suspected and established immunodeficiency (primary and secondary, excluding HIV-related immunodeficiencies) and atopic & allergic conditions, in addition to various disorders of immune dysregulation. He has worked closely with primary care, pediatricians, and other hospital specialists to manage patients with complex allergic and immune-mediated diseases.
Dr. Elkhalifa has published extensively in the field of immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, COVID-19 vaccination, drug allergy and anaphylaxis in prestigious Journals such as Nature, the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, in practice and others.
Dr. Elkhalifa has an outstanding track record in innovation. He developed the first UK drug allergy App. His commitment to promoting excellence and improving care, his innovative ideas and implementing them translated to awards from regional and national bodies in the UK.
Dr. Elkhalifa has taken several National and International leadership and managerial positions at various allergy and immunology associations, societies and committees.
Currently, Dr. Elkhalifa resides in Abu Dhabi, with his family. When he’s not working at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Elkhalifa enjoys travelling and exploring the wonderful worlds with his family. He enjoys various sports particularly swimming, running and Pilates
